Worship Service for June 28, 2020

WELCOME

I pray that your time spent here on CrossPointe’s website will rejuvenate and reinvigorate your faith in the Risen Lord Jesus to more confidently and hopefully face the difficult days in which we are presently living.

Once again, let us open our hearts to praising and hearing the Word of the Lord by reading through the worship service. Please take advantage of the opportunity to read, pause, reflect and pray when you feel led. I hope you also noticed that most of this service is also available in video format on the same page where you accessed this.

I assume most of you are at least somewhat familiar with the television show Family Feud; originally hosted by Richard Dawson and now by Steve Harvey. Believe it or not, the following are actual questions and answers given:

Name a type of foreign money:

Food

Name a farm animal a farmer may grow so fond of he won’t want to eat it:

They both quack.

My guess is those answers probably really did start some family feuds!

And with that, we better turn our attention to worship.

CALL TO WORSHIP

It is the Lord who created the stars, the Pleiades and Orion. He turns darkness into morning and day into night. He draws up water from the oceans and pours it down as rain on the land. The Lord is his name!

Worship Service for June 21, 2020

ANNOUNCEMENTS

As you are probably aware, CrossPointe Community Church has re-opened for gathered worship today at our normal time of 10:30am. We will be practicing social distancing and encourage folks to wear a mask. Our goal is to give anyone who wishes an opportunity to worship safely.

At the same time, if you are reading through this, you chose not to gather for worship at our church building today. I want you to know that I completely understand, honor and respect your decision to wait.

Believe it or not, this will be a busy week at the church! Wow! That’s the first time in a while I have been able to say that. On Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm, Disciple I Bible Study will meet again. Stephen Ministry Training will resume Wednesday night at 7:00 pm. Another Bible Study group will meet Thursday at the same time.

And our Free Community Meal will be served Friday from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. We have done so well serving it to folks in their cars as they drive up, that we will do so once again this month. If you would like to get in on the action, please let me know as we need six people to join John and Amy Topola who are preparing: chicken scaloppini, Italian orzo salad, French bread, and for dessert, red, white and blue cake! Thanks guys!

Our leaders will meet today at 1:00 pm to discuss re-opening for corporate worship. Please continue to pray for them. Ask God to grant them wisdom. Pray for our congregation. Pray for the churches of America. Pray for our country.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. ‘This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Worship Service for June 7, 2020

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our leadership team will be meeting next Sunday to decide when to reopen our sanctuary for corporate worship. Please pray that time will come soon.

But I am happy to announce that we can gather in our church parking lot today to celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. You can start arriving any time after 11:30 am. As you pull in, you will be handed a plastic bag for every person in your car. Each bag will contain a Communion scripture, a plastic cup with a wafer, a cup with juice and a Communion prayer. Then pull in and park, filling the far lot first, please. At 12 noon, please read your scripture. Then watch for me standing on a step ladder at the corner of the two sidewalks. When I lift up the bread, receive the bread. When I hold up the cup a moment later, receive the cup. Close the ceremony by reading the Communion prayer. Then you are free to leave if you wish. If you brought your offering, you are welcome to bring it in the lobby and put it in the box for that purpose.

If you cannot come to the church for Communion, there will be a Communion liturgy as part of this written service. I would advise you to prepare your elements now and have them on hand for later.
